The best time to try a wig is when you feel ready. Some people find comfort in making the decision to get new hair, with the wig and/or scarf prepared and ready to use. It is possible to try on a wig while you still have your own hair, and this is what most people do. However, this may be misleading for the fit if you have thick hair.

It may be helpful to wait until your hair begins to fall out (if you are able to wait), but this is not necessary. At Toftild, many people choose to try on a wig, select their new hair, set it aside, and make the final decision once their hair has fallen out.

It is also possible to choose your new hair and receive assistance with cutting off the remaining hair. This way, you can adjust to your new hair while gradually getting used to the absence of your own hair.

We are often asked the question: "When will my hair fall out?" Hair loss is always dependent on the medical treatment you are receiving. It varies based on the dosage, frequency, and combination of treatments, which makes it difficult to predict hair loss in general.

However, our experience shows that hair loss typically begins after the second chemotherapy treatment. Once hair loss starts, it usually progresses rapidly, and you may experience significant shedding within 3-5 days. For some people, hair loss occurs more gradually.

If you do not lose your hair, you may notice that it becomes drier, more brittle, and thinner. In this case, we recommend adding plenty of moisture and care to both your hair and scalp. It is advisable to use gentle, fragrance-free products.

As a general rule, you can receive your wig on the same day you visit us. We offer a wide selection of wigs from several international collections, including Belle Madame, Bergmann, Stimulate, and Elite Hair. Toftild has a large inventory, which means you can get your wig quickly.

If the desired model is not in stock, you can expect a delivery time of approximately 1-2 weeks for standard wigs (both synthetic and human hair). For custom-made wigs and hairpieces based on molds or measurements, there is currently a delivery time of 3-6 months due to the impact of COVID-19.

Yes, in many ways it looks like real hair. Manufacturers are constantly developing and refining the quality of synthetic hair to achieve as natural a look as possible. Synthetic hair feels different from real hair, and does not withstand warmth. Synthetic wigs are made in many variations - also with reflexes and bottom color, giving color games and depth that also occur in the natural real hair.

A standard wig made of synthetic fibers typically lasts 6-8 months with regular use. Repeated physical contact or friction from items such as helmets, hats, scarves, steam from cooking, or clothing with high collars can wear down the fibers and reduce the wig's lifespan. We do not recommend sleeping in a synthetic wig, as this causes additional wear.

It is important to use suitable care products to maintain the fibers. After several months of use, the wig may begin to frizz and tangle, and the hairstyle may lose volume and elasticity. There are various ways to secure a wig, and the best solution is highly individual. It depends on the type of wig, your lifestyle, and your activity level.

As a starting point, the wig's shape must fit your head, and just like clothing, wigs come in sizes ranging from XS to XL. Some wigs have sewn-in non-slip areas at the base, providing extra comfort and security. Additionally, the circumference of some wigs can be adjusted using a simple clasp at the nape of the neck.

If you need additional security, you can fasten the wig with double-sided wig tape. Others may opt for a solution where the wig is glued in place 24/7. In such cases, clients come to us for regular maintenance to have the wig removed at set intervals. This option is only available with certain types of wigs.

We offer a variety of toupee solutions, and the best option for you will depend on the extent of your hair loss, your lifestyle, and your level of daily activity. Our Hair for Life by Toftild toupees are made from real human hair.

One option is a so-called "disposable toupee," which is worn for approximately 4–6 weeks at a time before being replaced with a new one. Each hairpiece costs DKK 1,750, with an additional service fee of DKK 1,300. This toupee is secured 24/7 using a skin-safe adhesive and is among the thinnest and finest available on the market.

We also offer foil- and mesh-based toupees that can be reused. These cost DKK 3,375 each. Typically, clients use 3–4 pieces per year, though this can vary depending on individual needs. These toupees can also be worn 24/7 and are secured with either tape or skin adhesive. When using tape, you can remove and reapply the toupee yourself. If using adhesive, professional removal and reapplication is required, with a service fee of DKK 1,300.

Hair for life by Toftild® is a flexible hair system where you pay for the number of hairpieces and the monthly service appointments. During each service appointment, the hairpiece is removed, cleaned, washed, reattached, and styled. When installing a new toupe, both the hair part and your own hair are cut to achieve a nice and natural integration between your own hair and the hair section. The hair styles and you are informed of care and maintenance.

Service visit
Hair for life toupes must be serviced about once a month. When servicing, the toupe is removed and the scalp is cleaned for glue and tape. The scalp is pealed and prepared for mounting the toupe. The toupe is cleaned and washed before it is mounted again and the hair is cut and styled.

Yes, you can both bathe, swim and be physically active with our hair for life toupe. There are certain precautions you need to be aware of as the binding capacity of the glue is affected by water/sweat. If you have an active life with training and sweating a lot, you may need to go to service more often. Usually we recommend hair for life service once a month, but it is individually as needed and lifestyle.

When washing hair and bathing with a toupe that is glued on, be aware that the binding capacity of the glue is affected in water. Until the glue gathers and hardens, we recommend that you do not move the hair section. After bath, excess water is pressed out with a towel - and the hair part is gently pressed into place. Extended blow dryers can advantageously be used. Then the hair is styled.

It is quick and easy to get new hair at Toftild. The treatment takes two hours. It is light, painless and not surgical, so if you later opt out of using toupe, you have no brands or scars.
