Toftild's History

Henning's passion for cutting hair still made him think of those who have no hair themselves. He felt an urge to help them get hair again. After a few years of research and a lot of courses later, the doors opened on November 22, 1979 to "Toftild Touche and Wig Atelier". Quietly, the bald ice creams were spelled away.

At the same time, he still has the hairdressing salon Toftild. The two stores are both located at Budolfi Plads right in the heart of Aalborg, but in their own premises.

Claus Toftild is trained in 1986, where he subsequently travels to, among other things. The Faroe Islands and Germany to work. He is a year and a half at the German company Bergmann, where he learns everything about wigs and toupes.

Upon returning home he first gets a job at Toftild Hairdressing Salon. In 1989 he switched to work at Toftild Touche and Wig Atelier, where he has been ever since.

Hair for life by Toftild® is our own design of individually made wigs, toupers and hair parts that can be permanently fixed for a period of time.

1998 was also the year when the first municipal grant on the hair system became a reality. Hair for Life by Toftild® was also the first personal aid recognized by the municipal appropriation system as a subscription solution.

Finally, 1998 was also the year when hairdressing salon Toftild shut down when Toftild Touche and Wig Atelier really started to take off.

In 2002, Claus and Lise Toftild took over the operation of Toftild Touche and Wig Atelier, and the company changed its name to Toftild Alternative Hair. Henning and Ulla were still found in the store for a period after the change.

In 2013, Toftild opened its first branch outside Aalborg in the middle Jutland in Aarhus. First in rented premises in Aarhus Midtby, and in 2019 Toftild moved in its own, newly renovated premises in the Latin Quarter in Aarhus C. premises, which for 40 years before had housed a large wig business. Wigs and alternative hair are thus still synonymous with the address Borggade 7, now with Toftild's name on the facade. In Aarhus you will meet four Toftild employees today. 

A large part of Toftild's DNA is our Hard Donation Project ”LOVE IS IN THE HAIR”, Like Lise and Claus Toftild started in 2015. The hard donations and the project of managing care, hair and all the practicality quickly became a heartbeat for the company, and today is a big part of Toftild's everyday life.

With the project "Love Is in the Hair" we at Toftild would like to give something back to the many people who are the basis of our company. In addition to using the hair that is donated to us, the Toftild passes the value of the hair for charitable purposes. Over the years, it has become DKK 800,000 for Knæk Cancer. 

The jump to the Zealand took Toftild in 2018 with the background that a long -time dealer and partner wanted to dispose of his business. In 2019, therefore, Toftild opened its own premises at Frederiksberg Alle 50. A large part of Toftild's customers come from the Zealand, and we still help them through a good and loyal dealer network. And the many customers who want to come to Toftild himself have thus had the opportunity to meet the three Toftild employees in the premises at Frederiksberg Alle since 2019.
