How is donation hair used?

Donation hair is used to produce wigs and alternative hair solutions for people suffering from hair loss. Donor hair is used for specially made wigs and hair parts that we call ”Hair for life by Toftild®”. All products made from donation hair carry the product name "Love is in the hair".

Thus, the donation hair we use exclusively in very special collections such as hair for life® and under the brand "Love is in the Hair®".
Toftild is a company that contributes to different aid organizations every year, so that we can give something back to those who form the basis of our business. Toftild supports Danske Hospital's Clowns, the Danish Cancer Society, the Children's Cancer Foundation, Look Good Feel Better and Team Rynkeby.

Since 2017, Toftild has supported the Knæk Cancer Cancer campaign with Love Is in the Hair® every year as a sender, and in total it has become just over DKK 800,000.

When you choose to donate your hair to Love Is in the Hair®, you also choose to send your hair to a business that, in addition to producing wigs and hair parts for those who have lost their own hair, also support charity for exactly the same people. In this way, we at Toftild think we create the most value with your hard donation.

Who is receiving the Hard Donation Business?

Wigs made from donation hair go to people who miss their own hair and are affected by involuntary hair loss. It may be cancer patients or people affected by autoimmune diseases where Alopecia is the most frequent. The wigs are made for both children and adults.

Be aware that we not can follow the individual hard donation to the recipient of the hair. Likewise, we cannot guarantee who exactly is receiving the wig. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that the hair goes specifically to, for example, a child affected by cancer. But what we can guarantee you is that your donation hair is always used for wig production for people, adults like children affected by a disease -related hair loss. For them you make a huge difference ❤️

You can read Nanna's Report About what it is like to be young and have no hair. Nanna herself tells the wig that the wig has a big impact on her because she knows her hair is passed on by others who have chosen to share it with someone who does not have hair themselves.

Without all of you who donate hair, we couldn't help all those who lack hair. It is in fact very simple. If you have enough of it, others miss, so pass it on ... We know it benefits ❤️

If you have any questions about HART DONATION AND LOVE IS IN THE HAIR® you are always welcome to contact Lise Toftild at lise@toftild.com.

An adventure about hard donation

How to start Love Is In The Hair®

In December 2015, Lise and Claus Toftild traveled to Toftild's long -time partner and producer in China to hand over the first collection of donation hair and personally start the project. The first production of wigs was made on the basis of just 15 kg of hair and with Toftild's own design. It was the first time the manufacturer had to make a separate production of hair, which was delivered for a very specific purpose. The first production resulted in many beautiful wigs and it took approx. half a year to produce them. All the wigs are - then and today - handmade and made of donation hair, which is sorted and prepared for production according to traditional technique. Wig production is therefore largely manual. The wigs have since brought great joy to many recipients. Toftild is responsible for all expenses associated with the production of the wigs, sorting the hair, etc.

Facts about wig production

On average, approx. 4-5 unsorted ponytails to make a whole wig. All donation hair is sorted and assembled in bundles of us so that it is the same in length, color and structure. In the final sorting of the factory, some hair goes off that cannot be used because the hairs are simply too short. You can see the process of sorting the hairs in a ponytail in lengths. At Toftild we only do this sorting ourselves when designing new wigs. It can be up to 40% of the hairs sorted out in a bundle because they are too short. This is also why we would like to receive as long hair as possible. Like a minimum of 30 cm. Then we ensure that the least possible hair goes to waste.

Today, all the preparation of the hair and the actual production of wigs takes place primarily in the East, such as. in China, India, Indonesia, Tai Wan, Vietnam or in the Philippines. Wig production in Denmark takes place only to a very small extent and today usually only at the country's theaters, where the old craftsmanship, wig teal, is still used. You can see the craft here as it takes place at the factories in the East today.

About Hard Donation

The length of your hard donation should be at least 30 cm and preferably longer if you can do without it.

The longer the hair, the less hair goes to waste. When you make the great gesture to donate your hair, we also want to make sure that as much of the hair can be used. Real -haired hawks are attached by hand. That is, every single strand of hair is attached to a web bottom and tied a knot on. So a certain length of the hair is needed to tie the knot on the wig. In a hard donation, there will always be many hairs that are not equal. We have learned that there is too much a waste if the hair is not sufficiently long. And we think that is a shame.

The hair must not have been chemically treated, ie. lighted or permanent. If the hair has been chemically treated, it is often too unlastic and porous to be used in wig production because the individual scales in the hair are not intact.

Colored hair can be used if it has been colored with ammonia -free color and with a beize of 1%. Ask if necessary. Your hairdresser if in doubt.

If your color, clearing or permanently has grown out, the hair may well be used.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer ourselves to cut our hair at Toftild, as we get far more inquiries than we can accommodate. We are not a hairdressing salon in the traditional sense, we spend all our time on customers who need wigs and alternative hair solutions as they do not have so many other people's places to go.

We recommend that you go to your own hairdresser and send your hair to us, or come by and hand it over even in one of our businesses in Aalborg, Aarhus or Copenhagen.

No, unfortunately, it is not possible to follow its own hard donation "from ponytail to wig" as the donation hair is sorted into colors, lengths and hair structures, mixing so it is ready for further processing. There are approx. 6-7 Unsorted ponytails to make a single wig, so the hair is mixed upon manufacture.

Once we receive your hard donation at the Hard Donation Office in Aalborg, you will receive an email if you have registered your hard donation or attached your mail. Remember to check your spam filter or unwanted post. We receive a lot of hard donations, so it may well take some time before we register your hard donation.
