"My little sister has alopecia" – that’s why Amalie chose to donate 40 cm of her hair
Recently, we received a hair donation from Amalie, who chose to donate no less than 40 cm of her hair.
A decision that for many can feel significant – especially if you’ve had long hair for many years. But for Amalie, the motivation was greater than the nervousness.
“My little sister has alopecia, and that has inspired me greatly to donate my hair,” she shares.

Although she had been nervous about cutting off so much, it was also something she had been looking forward to for a long time.
“I’ve had long hair for a long time, but it has been a great motivation for me to be able to pass my hair on to someone else. Now I have short hair, and I’m truly happy about it. I feel free.”

For Amalie, the donation wasn’t just about the hair itself – but about what it could come to mean for someone else.
“I hope my donation can bring a smile to the recipient’s face. I hope it can help create confidence – even though they are undoubtedly beautiful both with and without a wig. I hope I can contribute to someone else’s happiness.”
And that is exactly what makes hair donation so special. While hair is “just” hair to some, it can make a huge difference to others.
Amalie also hopes that more people will begin to see hair donation as something more natural.
“I think it’s important that donating hair isn’t seen as a huge thing. It should be more normal, and something more people consider doing. I had never thought about it myself until we found out that my little sister has alopecia.”
At the same time, she emphasizes something many people may forget when considering it:
“Even if you feel nervous or excited about cutting your hair off, it grows back. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for everyone. That’s why I’m happy that I donated my hair.”

We are incredibly grateful that Amalie wanted to share her story with us – and for her donation ❤️
