Scarves and Turbans for Hair Loss

If you have been diagnosed with cancer, you are entitled to a subsidy for the purchase of either a wig or headwear, and you can always choose where you want to use your subsidy. You are not restricted to the hospital’s list of suppliers.

A wig or headwear is considered a treatment aid to help compensate for the side effects of your treatment. With chemotherapy, hair loss is temporary and the subsidy is usually granted only once.

In 2025, the subsidy for headwear is DKK 1,638 incl. VAT. If your purchase exceeds the subsidy amount, you simply pay the difference yourself. The subsidy is the same across all regions of Denmark. The amount is adjusted annually at the beginning of the year in all regions.
