How Nanna and Her Family Coped with Alopecia

Nanna developed alopecia in 2020, and it began with a bald spot at the back of her head. Gradually, more and more patches appeared, and they grew larger and larger. Suddenly, she also started losing hair at the front, and in the end she had very little hair left on her head. Hair is a big part of our identity, and it can be difficult to recognize yourself in the person you see in the mirror.
At the end of 2023, Nanna’s hair started to grow back after she had been bald for just over three years. That is the peculiar thing about the autoimmune disease alopecia – you never know how it will develop or whether your hair will grow back.
