Care Guide for Human Hair

Human hair wigs have undergone chemical processing during production. The hair structure is unique and requires extra care as well as added moisture and fatty acids. To maintain the hair’s softness and shine, it is important to wash and care for it correctly. We recommend that you follow the care guide step by step.

For washing and care, it is essential to use gentle care products that provide moisture and fatty acids to the hair. Toftild recommends products from Botea Elements, including the Color Protect series and the Repair & Moisture series.

We recommend placing the wig on a wig stand when it is not in use. Never use a polystyrene or rubber head, as this may damage the wig’s fit and elasticity.

If you have any questions about your new hair, you are always welcome to contact us.

A wig being washed under a tap

Hair Washing

Only wash the wig when absolutely necessary. With daily use, we recommend washing as needed or approximately every 14 days. If you sweat a lot, more frequent washing may be required, as it is mainly the fabric/cap inside the wig that becomes dirty.

Gently brush through the hair to ensure there are no tangles.

Hold the wig in your hand and wet it thoroughly under running water from the tap or shower.

Hair Washing

Apply shampoo to the hair and gently squeeze it in with your hand. Do not rub or twist the hair. Never pull on the lace front at the front of the wig, as this can loosen the knots that secure the hair.

Wig being rinsed under the tap

Hair Washing

Rinse the wig thoroughly under running water. Always rinse from top to bottom to avoid tangling.

Repeat the shampoo process if the wig is very dirty.

Applying conditioner to a wig

Hair Washing

Gently squeeze the water out of the hair. Apply conditioner to the lengths only. Avoid applying conditioner to the base/cap of the wig, as this can loosen the knots. Leave the conditioner in for 2–5 minutes, then rinse from top to bottom.

If extra care is needed, we recommend using a hair mask. Apply the mask to the lengths of the wig after shampooing and leave it on for approximately 10 minutes. Then rinse the wig and finish with conditioner as described above. This way, you seal the treatment into the hair for longer-lasting care.

After Washing

After washing, gently squeeze the water out of the hair. Place the wig in a towel and press out the excess water. It is very important not to twist the hair, but to gently press the water out instead.

Apply b3 ionic color lock spray.

Gently brush through the hair. Always start at the ends and work your way up toward the base. Finish by brushing thoroughly from root to tip.

The wig can then be blow-dried or placed on a wig stand to air dry.
