Donate Your Hair for Cancer
In 2015, Lise Toftild founded Denmark’s first hair donation project, Love is in the Hair®. The project was started with the purpose of collecting hair donations and helping those who have lost their hair. The idea was that the hair donations should not only help cancer patients, but also people affected by other conditions that may cause permanent or temporary hair loss.
Not everyone loses their hair due to cancer. Many people experience hair loss because of the autoimmune condition alopecia, also known as patchy hair loss. In Denmark, nearly 2% of the population is affected by alopecia, which can cause complete or partial hair loss. Alopecia typically appears on the scalp but can also lead to hair loss of the eyebrows, beard, and other body hair.
Can you donate hair for children with cancer?
When you donate hair to Toftild Hair Donation, you help support everyone going through illness-related hair loss, including both young and old. However, it is important to mention that at Toftild Hair Donation, we create wigs for all people affected by involuntary hair loss. This means we support both cancer patients and those affected by conditions such as alopecia. Hair loss due to illness can be a difficult experience, especially for children—whether they are battling cancer or alopecia. By donating your hair, you help bring smiles and hope to those who need it most.
Can I see who receives my hair?
Unfortunately, we cannot track individual donations through the production process, and therefore we cannot guarantee that your hair is donated specifically to cancer patients or to children with cancer. However, we can guarantee that all hair donations are used in the production of wigs for both adults and children affected by medical hair loss. For these individuals, your donation makes a significant difference.

When you choose to send your hair donation to Toftild Love is in the Hair, you are also supporting an organization built on strong human values—one that gives back to the people we are here to help. Each year, Toftild Hair Donation supports organizations such as the Danish Cancer Society, Pink Saturday, Support the Breasts, Team Rynkeby, Knæk Cancer, the Danish Childhood Cancer Foundation, and Danish Hospital Clowns. Your hair donation therefore helps many when it is entrusted to Toftild. In fact, Toftild Love is in the Hair is the hair donation project in Denmark that has contributed the highest total amount to a range of charitable organizations dedicated to helping others.
In just six years, Toftild Hair Donation has donated a total of $123,750 to Knæk Cancer.
In 2023, Toftild Hair Donation chose to donate $3,750 to Knæk Cancer and additionally support the Danish Childhood Cancer Foundation and Danish Hospital Clowns with $1,875 each.
