Female Hair Loss
Many people still believe that hair loss only affects men. In reality, around half of all women will experience it at some point in their lives. Losing hair is, of course, part of the body’s natural balance. The average person sheds up to 100 individual hairs a day – and when this balance is disrupted, meaning fewer hairs grow back than those that are shed, this is defined as hair loss.
Can hair loss also affect young women?
The risk of hair loss increases with age, but women and girls of all ages can experience partial or complete hair loss. Some of the other factors that can often trigger hair loss in women include:
If you have recently given birth.
If you have undergone chemotherapy or another type of medical treatment.
If you style your hair in a way that pulls at the strands or requires the use of harsh chemicals.
If your body is physically or mentally stressed, you may experience temporary hair loss.
At Toftild, however, we have seen women of all types, ages, and backgrounds come to us for help. Hair loss and patchy baldness can affect anyone, and it can happen very suddenly. This is reflected in our ability and expertise to create tailored solutions that restore a sense of security and joy in life for each individual.
If you are experiencing involuntary hair loss and would like to learn about your options for regaining a natural-looking head of hair, you can receive a free, no-obligation email consultation with Lise. She will assess your hair loss and provide our evaluation of possible solutions. All it requires is that you send an email to support@toftild.com briefly describing your hair loss. We would also like you to include a few photos—one from each side, one from the front, and one from above. Don’t worry, the images will be deleted in accordance with GDPR after the evaluation. Finally, please let us know which clinic location you would prefer to visit.
Myths about women and hair loss
While there are certain factors and events that can trigger hair loss, there are also many common misconceptions that we would like to help clarify. We often hear people claim that using shampoo too frequently can cause hair loss. There is no evidence to support this. In the same category are claims that the use of hair dye and perm treatments at the hairdresser can trigger hair loss, which is also incorrect. In fact, we are quite sure that your hairdresser is not particularly interested in you losing any of your hair—unless they are involved in the process with a pair of scissors.

Is there anything women can do to prevent hair loss?
At Toftild, we specialize in providing unique and natural-looking alternative hair solutions. In fact, we see ourselves as providers of renewed confidence and joy in everyday life. That is why we are also happy to share some tips on how you can minimize the risk of hair loss by avoiding certain habits that are not beneficial for your natural hair growth.
Be mindful when tying your hair up. If you repeatedly style it in a way where, for example, a hair elastic pulls tightly on your roots, this can result in hair loss. Also, try to avoid very restrictive diets. It is important to get sufficient vitamins and minerals if you want to support healthy hair. In particular, vitamins B and C, as well as calcium and iron, are important for stimulating hair growth.
However, sometimes hair loss occurs anyway – and fortunately, there are solutions available.
