Isaac, 11 years old – Donating His Hair
Isaac is our 11-year-old son who has always had long hair, except for one time when he was 5 and wanted a haircut.
Isaac’s trademark has always been his long, beautiful hair. Nicknamed Mowgli by many of our friends, he has always loved his long hair.
Despite that, he has several times been talked out of public restrooms because people thought he had entered the wrong one 🤣
He has always been super confident with his long hair. It has given him a number of modelling jobs, and in general he has simply found a sense of security in it. As parents, we actually never thought he would want to cut it.
A couple of months ago, he started talking about maybe wanting a haircut. We have always let him decide what he wants to do with his hair.
We talked it through thoroughly with him about getting it cut, but the doubt was still there.
Hair Donation – and Isaac Thought It Was Interesting
We started talking about what he could actually do with his beautiful hair if he decided to cut it.
I told him about your wonderful project Love is in the Hair. I showed him pictures of people who have had wigs made and the huge difference it has made in their lives. We told him how, with his hair and in collaboration with you, he could truly make a difference for someone.
How you produce wigs from hair donations from people who have cut their long hair – for individuals who unfortunately have become ill with cancer or have another medical condition where they have lost their hair.
It was as if that was exactly what he needed to hear to make the final decision to cut off his beautiful hair. The hairdresser appointment was booked, and it was decided that we would send his hair to you at Toftild.
Isaac is by nature the most loving person, and we have always made a great effort to teach him that you should help others and make a difference when you have the opportunity. That truly came to light here, because his decision was crystal clear when he heard that his beloved long Mowgli hair could actually be used for something beautiful.
And he was SO proud when he came home and showed his father and little brother ALL the hair that now had to be wrapped and sent to Aalborg for your project “Love is in the Hair.”
We thank you for the fantastic work you do, and for making it possible for Isaac to make a difference.
