Would You Donate Your Hair to Someone in Need?
If you have long hair that is at least 30 cm and has never been dyed, permed, or highlighted, you can make someone very happy by having it cut off at a hairdresser and donating it to Toftild Hair Donation and the project Love is in the Hair®. By donating your hair, you help people who were not born under as fortunate a hair star as you – or who have lost their hair due to illness. Perhaps you can part with your hair knowing that it will grow back, and perhaps doing something good for others will give you a wonderful feeling too. Nanna Received a Wig After Losing Most of Her Hair
Nanna suffers from alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease. This means that the body’s immune system attacks its own tissue. Her hair began to fall out in large patches, and in the end she decided to try a wig to see if it was right for her. Nanna visited Toftild in Frederiksberg to choose her wig, and you can watch the Ultra Nyt feature here.
Nanna chose a wig made of human hair that looks very natural. She explains that the wig feels very much like her own hair because she knows it comes from another person. And this is where hair donations make a difference. Without all you wonderful hair donors, we would not be able to create human hair wigs.
Nanna and Alopecia Areata
In this video, Nanna talks about what it is like to live with alopecia and shows for the first time what her hair loss looks like. Alopecia areata is not dangerous, it is not contagious, and it does not hurt. But it can feel very difficult to lose your own hair and be bald when it was not your choice. That is why it means so much when those who can spare some of their hair choose to donate it to projects like Toftild Hair Donation.
Why Others Can Benefit from Your Hair
At Toftild, we have our own wigs manufactured at a factory abroad. However, there is a shortage of Scandinavian hair, so for a long time we have had to use other types of hair to produce our wigs. There is a significant difference in how natural wigs made from real Scandinavian hair look compared to other hair types. That is why we at Toftild would very much like to offer wigs, toupees, and alternative hair made from donated hair. If you are already planning to cut your hair, remember that it can benefit others and bring great joy to those experiencing hair loss such as alopecia – or those who lose their hair due to chemotherapy.
Hair from Young People to Young People
Many young people also experience hair loss for various reasons, like Nanna, and at Toftild we believe there has been a lack of beautiful, natural-looking wigs for young individuals in particular. We want to change that with the project Love is in the Hair, where you as a young person can help give another young person the hair they miss.
