When facing hair loss as a result of chemotherapy, it can feel vulnerable and overwhelming. With us, you are met with calmness, respect, and expertise – whether you are looking for a wig, headwear, or simply need guidance.
We begin with a complimentary and personal consultation, where you, together with an experienced stylist – in a private and comfortable consultation room – try on different wigs based on your wishes and needs. We set aside an hour and a half, so you can take your time and feel what is right for you. Many choose to take a wig home the same day, while others need a little more time – and both are completely okay. And perhaps a wig is not the right solution for you at all.
During the process, we guide you through the difference between synthetic hair and human hair, and help you find the solution that best suits your lifestyle and daily life during treatment. We often recommend synthetic wigs for chemotherapy patients, as they require minimal maintenance and retain their hairstyle even after washing – which can be a great advantage when your energy is limited. Of course, you will receive thorough guidance on how to wear and care for your wig, and we adjust it to ensure a comfortable and natural fit.
If you wish, we are also happy to cut your own hair during your visit, so you can leave with your new hairstyle and a lighter heart. You are always welcome to bring a loved one – we understand that this can be an emotional experience, and we do everything we can to create a safe and supportive environment around you.

Hair Loss Related to Chemotherapy
Most people undergoing chemotherapy will experience temporary hair loss. Fortunately, for the vast majority, the hair begins to grow back once the treatment has ended – in 99% of cases.
If you are receiving radiation therapy, the hair loss will usually be limited to the area being treated. Unfortunately, it is more common in these cases that the hair does not grow back, as the hair follicles may be permanently damaged.
Our experience shows that hair loss often begins after the second chemotherapy session. It does not happen overnight, but typically appears as heavy shedding. How quickly it progresses varies greatly from person to person.
Many choose to take control when hair loss begins – for example by cutting their hair short to make the transition feel more manageable. It can be a positive way to regain a sense of control. However, we do not recommend shaving the head completely; we advise keeping at least 1–1.5 cm of hair to avoid unnecessary irritation of the scalp and hair follicles.

As shown below, it is very difficult to see the difference between human hair and synthetic hair. Many people believe that synthetic hair looks very artificial – but that is a thing of the past.

A Wig Can Be a Time-Out
Many chemotherapy patients describe the wig as a time-out during their treatment journey. A wig is an option and a choice you can make. It can offer a break from illness and treatment when, for example, you are out in public and do not wish to look unwell. There are no right or wrong choices – only many different possibilities. We would love to show you those options here on this page.
I never doubted that I wanted a wig so I could feel like myself despite the illness and chemotherapy. With the wig, I could go out into the world without people looking at me differently or with pity in their eyes. I needed not to look sick. I needed to feel beautiful and like myself again, and the wig helped me do that.

Don’t Feel That a Wig Is Right for You?
Or would you like to complement your wig with a turban or a night cap? We offer a wide selection of turbans and scarves designed for women experiencing hair loss. All turbans are made from soft, comfortable fabrics and are free from irritating seams.
Subsidy for Wigs
Please note: The subsidy information below applies to the Danish healthcare system. If you live outside Denmark, please check with your local healthcare authority for applicable support programmes in your country.
When undergoing chemotherapy, you can receive a subsidy from your regional healthcare authority for either a wig or headwear, as it is considered a medical aid to compensate for the side effects of your treatment.
In 2026, the subsidy for a wig is DKK 4,453 including VAT, and the subsidy for headwear is DKK 1,682.23 including VAT. If you exceed the amount, you simply pay the difference yourself. You are always free to choose where to use your subsidy; you are not bound by the hospital’s list of suppliers.
